Are you ready for Spring?

Anyone who is into fashion might already know what the upcoming fashion trends will be in 2013. Honestly, while keeping up with my schoolwork for this semester I have much less time that I used to for either shopping or reading fashion magazines. What a shame!

This post is for anyone who, like me, is a fashionista at heart but has temporarily lost track of fashion trends. It's time for us to wake up and take note of the upcoming spring looks.

Elle magazine reports 4 spring trends 2013 as floral, stripes, pastel and lace.

Not surprisingly, pastel colors and floral patterns, of course, are highlights of the spring collections.

But what was surprising and refreshing for me to see that my favorite color, black, has a key role to play in the season's trends.

Black is a common feature in winter collections, but in this context it is a complete surprise! Really? Do you think spring can handle black?

Thanks to Marc Jacobs, stripes are represented in his spring 2013 ready-to-wear collection, transformed to a perfect fit for the season. The looks are not too heavy and serious-looking, despite the dark colors. These colors manage to create fun and playful looks in a subtle way.

Speaking about his spring 2013 collection in Daily Front Row interview, Marc Jacobs said, "It was very simple, very cool, very easy ... so this season we wanted something very brutal and straight-forward."

A lace dress can create conservative, sexy or playful looks. But a key point for this spring pieces is the balance of color with design, because without that harmony, lace can produce a look that is either very heavy or naughty. Be careful when you try to pull of a lace outfit. It is easy to make the wrong impression.

Designers Jason WuVera WangBurberry ProrsumAlberta Ferretti and Roberto Cavalli, all gave us different takes on the lace look. The range is from light and airy to dark and heavy.

I believe everyone women has a different level of color punch that she can pull off in her wardrobe, and this is an important consideration. Stay in your own color comfort zone.

My main piece of advice is this: Don't buy it just because one of your favorite celebrities wears it or because prestigious fashion magazine calls it a must-have item.

Rethink and manipulate your favorite celebrity looks into what works for your figure and lifestyle, and try to include items you already own when shopping for a new seasons.

One thing that I want to single out is the unique-cut-out dress pictured at bottom right. It definitely is a futuristic look. Also, the unusual, asymmetric cut gives a glimpses of skin, adding the lightness of spring.

Issac Mizrahi, well-known fashion designer and judge of the TV show Project Runway: All Star, shared his thoughts about spring 2013 fashion trends in an interview with QVC.

He said, "... You know it's like almost of everything is focused on brights and pastels and mixing colors. I think color is like not just a trend in America, I think  it is a global trends. Think about spring time as a really colorful colorful time. At least for me, the first warm day always makes me want to wear a lot of color."
